Intuit Dome: A New Home for the Clippers

Clippers Break Ground on New Arena in Inglewood

The Intuit Dome, a 18,000-seat venue, will open in 2024

The Los Angeles Clippers have broken ground on a new arena in Inglewood, California. The Intuit Dome, a 18,000-seat venue, is scheduled to open for the start of the 2024-25 season. The privately funded arena will cost $1.8 billion and will feature a team practice facility, a variety of dining and retail options, and a 5,000-seat outdoor plaza. The Intuit Dome will be located south of SoFi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers. The new arena will be part of a larger mixed-use development that will include housing, retail, and offices. "We are excited to break ground on the Intuit Dome, which will be a world-class arena and a major addition to the Inglewood community," said Steve Ballmer, owner of the Clippers. "We believe that the Intuit Dome will be a place where our fans can come together to enjoy the Clippers, as well as a variety of other events." The Intuit Dome will be the first new arena built in Los Angeles since Staples Center opened in 1999. The Clippers have played at Staples Center since 1999, but they have long sought a home of their own. "This is a historic day for the Clippers and for the city of Inglewood," said Inglewood Mayor James Butts. "The Intuit Dome will be a major economic driver for our community and will help to create jobs and opportunities for our residents." The Intuit Dome is part of a wave of new sports arenas being built in the United States. In recent years, new arenas have opened in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Seattle. The construction of the Intuit Dome is a sign of the growing popularity of basketball and the continued investment in sports infrastructure in the United States.
