DeMar DeRozan Traded to Sacramento Kings

Buyout and Sign-and-Trade to send DeRozan to Sacramento

Chicago Bulls Star to join New Team

According to ESPN Insider Tim Bontemps, the Sacramento Kings have acquired star small forward DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade deal with the Chicago Bulls. DeRozan is expected to sign a three-year, $74 million deal with the Kings, who are looking to contend for a playoff spot in the Western Conference next season.

The Bulls are receiving a trade exception and a 2025 second-round pick from the Kings in exchange for DeRozan. The trade exception will be worth $1.9 million, which will allow the Bulls to sign a free agent or trade for a player making up to that amount without having to send any salary back in return.

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, averaged 25.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Bulls last season. He was a key part of the team's success, helping them reach the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

The Kings are hoping that DeRozan can help them take the next step and reach the playoffs. They have not made the playoffs since 2006, the longest active drought in the NBA.
