Demar Derozan Traded To Chicago Bulls In Sign And Trade Deal

DeMar DeRozan Traded to Chicago Bulls in Sign-and-Trade Deal

Bulls Acquire All-Star Guard

Three-Year, $85 Million Deal Includes Draft Picks

Chicago, IL - The Chicago Bulls have acquired guard DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs in a sign-and-trade agreement. The Bulls sent forward Thaddeus Young, guard Al-Farouq Aminu, and three future draft picks to the Spurs in exchange for DeRozan.

Under the terms of the deal, DeRozan will sign a three-year, $85 million contract with the Bulls. The Bulls also acquired the 2025 first-round pick and the 2022 and 2023 second-round picks from the Spurs.

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, averaged 21.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game last season with the Spurs. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2022 and received MVP votes.

The addition of DeRozan gives the Bulls a much-needed scoring boost and a veteran presence in the backcourt. He is expected to play a key role in the team's efforts to return to the playoffs next season.

The trade marks a significant move by the Bulls, who are looking to build a contender around young stars Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball. DeRozan's leadership and experience will be invaluable to the team's development.

The Bulls are optimistic that the addition of DeRozan will help them take the next step and become a legitimate playoff contender in the Eastern Conference.
